What It Will Take To Transform Yourself Into A Winner

Ever since starting this blog, I get emails from you guys and gals asking me all sorts of questions regarding weight loss and productivity.

Let me just say this, thank you for taking the time to message me and thank yourself for making the effort to improve yourself!

Changes can only be affected by people who are open-minded and hungry for life mastery.

Anyway, someone asked me an interesting question about transformations. He wanted to know what it would take to transform himself into a winner and I realized just how important of a question this is.

So many of us face failure on a daily basis and yet we keep going!

Unlike those who quit and give up, we show resilience and perseverance!

It’s freaking awesome that we don’t give up but I know how frustrating it is to hit wall after wall.

I’ve considered the possibility that sometimes we simply aren’t good enough yet. I placed emphasis on ‘YET’ because this post will focus on exactly what you need to develop to be good enough.

Coming to this realization is definitely the first step towards change because it means you’re open and susceptible to information that can uplift you.

With that being said, here’s a very simple and potent list on what it takes to transform yourself into a winner.

1. Sweat Harder Than Everyone Else

Repeat this with me – Screw Talent! Screw IQ! Screw Natural Born Gifts! The Only Thing That Matters Is HARD WORK!

How aware are you of people who waste away talent?

Believe me, it happens more often than not.

I’ve seen countless guys and girls in my own life who let their talents and gifts go to waste because they are either not willing to try or not willing to work hard enough.

In the end, they achieve nothing.

You see, hard work is a pre-requisite for any form of success.

Anyone who promises you quick and easy results is a liar. Alternately, if those quick results are real, they often come attached with side effects and consequences that you seriously don’t want to face.

Before even thinking about winning, you have to be prepared to work hard.

That’s the bare minimum.

Once you’re prepared for hard work, be open to the idea that You specifically will need to work twice, thrice or even four times harder than everyone else.

This is something I’ve made peace with in my own life.

I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis at age 22.

When faced with the choice of taking meds for the rest of my life, I decided to take the unorthodox and difficult route to health and wellness.

It took me over 18 months but I was able to overcome an incurable disease and enter a state of remission without taking any meds or suffering from side effects.

I did it by transforming my lifestyle and doing things I had never imagined I would do (Drinking green juices daily, sleeping early, eating healthy, cutting out all junk and sugar, meditating, praying and having faith in my hard efforts to overcome my adversity)!

Those 18 months were far from easy.

If anything, it was the hardest time of my life but I was able to win and defeat this disease by working harder than most people who walked a similar path as I did. People all around me were able to do walk, run and live life normally without going through immense physical pain like I was.

As much as I wanted to go back to that, there was no denying that to reach a state of being healthy and fit again, I would have to work insanely harder than those people around me.

I did it! So can you!

2. Develop Results In An Unbalanced Life

I don’t believe in the fantasy known as balance. Look around you, how many people do you know of whom are actually tearing apart their goals?

How many guys who want to be ripped have gone on to become ripped? How many girls who have talked about starting their own business have gone on to start a business?

From what I observe, 80% of people fail to maintain a balanced lifestyle.

If they do, the results they accumulate are either dismal or just satisfactory. Those who fail at maintaining a balanced lifestyle also end up neglecting their goals at the same time because they just don’t give enough of themselves to it.

I made a decision that I don’t want to settle for satisfactory!

I want EXCELLENT results!

And let me tell you something you probably already know, excellence requires an enormous amount of work. So much so that you have to cut back on other activities and tasks in order to become excellent at that thing.

If it’s worth it and you have an honest passion for it, you’ll make those sacrifices and throw yourself head deep into it.

If not, you’ll continue to think exercising 3 times a week on the elliptical will make you shredded or indefinitely working on a business plan will get your business off the ground.

3. Develop Clear Communication Skills

Some researchers believe that communication is the single most important key to optimal performance in any area of life.

When speaking of communication, we are referring to the clear and concise transferral of information from you to other people. When objectives and ideas are shared between parties in an effective manner, productivity rates skyrocket and results are improved.

So, think back to a time when you actually failed at something and identify ways you could have improved your communication skills.

Use the following questions to deduce your level of communication skills. Based on your answers, you’ll find new ways to improve!

  • Can you clearly construct objectives into easy to understand sentences?
  • Are you able to deconstruct your own ideas into objectives?
  • Were you communicating enough, if at all?
  • Did you ask enough questions, if at all?

Apart from that, I want you to apply these questions to yourself.

Now, don’t mistake this for mental illness but do you effectively communicate with yourself?

I’m really not joking!

We all have conversations with ourselves. Every time we set a goal and need to engage in action, we have a conversation with ourselves listing reasons for and against a particular action.

When it comes to your goals, are you effectively communicating all the pros for taking action

Trust me, your desires and laziness will present feelings and ideas of relaxation and complacency which is why you need to be constantly reminding yourself of what you want to accomplish, why you want to accomplish that goal and what rewards it will bring into your life.

Layout objectives in a clear and concise manner.

It will make a world of a difference in your ability to win and be successful.

4. Provide Solutions, Not More Problems To An Existing Problem

Ever notice how people tend to make excuses for their failures? Think about the last time you failed at something, what was your first reaction? Did you identify areas where you performed poorly and immediately made a note of what you can do to improve or did you JUST search for excuses?

I’ve met people who wanted to lose weight but always had some problem or the other.

If for instance, they had no access to the gym, they would go on to presenting a list of problems preventing them from going to the gym like not having enough money, time or energy.

What should they be doing instead?

Well, instead of presenting more problems to a problem, they should be identifying other means of achieving their goals.

They ought to be working around their circumstances rather than be halted by it.

I lost 40+ pounds in the confines of my small room! Guess what, I’ve never stepped inside a gym!

Instead of making excuses, I picked up Insanity by Shaun T and exercised in my room. Because I didn’t have access to loads of gym equipment, the ideal solution to my problem was to engage in body weight exercises!

If you are in the habit of finding more problems in your life rather than solutions, I need you to evaluate your attitude and make a firm decision to alter the way you think.

It can be done by actively searching for solutions to obstacles in your life.

Do that for long enough and you’ll never have an excuse for why you haven’t won at the important challenges in your life. Do that for long enough and you’ll never be stifled by problems or hurdles.

Do that for long enough and you’ll never be a loser at life.
